Happy Spring to our POPLAR community! As the weather gets warmer and we see new growth around us, we are excited to announce that our first Data Sharing Agreement has been signed! Data are now on their way to ICES from the Queen’s Family Health Team in Kingston. Our data team is ready to process this information for the POPLAR Controlled Use Dataset. We would like to thank everyone involved at ICES, the Eastern Ontario Network (EON), and the Queen’s Family Health Team for their hard work in helping us reach this important milestone.

Our next steps include sending out 20 more Data Sharing Agreements and helping transfer more data from a second site to ICES.

Over the past two months, we have also welcomed new people into leadership roles:

  • Dr. Roni Kraut and Rebecca Theal from Queen’s University Department of Family Medicine are now the co-Directors of Eastern Ontario Network (EON). They are taking over from Dr. David Barber, who served as EON Director for more than 10 years.

  • Dr. Jennifer Rayner has taken over from Dr. Mike Green as co-Lead for INSPIRE-PHC and POPLAR. Dr. Rayner started this role on April 1, 2026. Dr. Green will continue to support the team in an advisory role during a one-year transition.

We will continue to share POPLAR updates through this newsletter every two months and on our website. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the POPLAR team at info@poplarnetwork.ca.

We look forward to working together as we continue to improve primary care and health outcomes across Ontario.

Sincerely,

POPLAR Executive
