Data Infrastructure Ready and Funding for Patient Oriented Research

Happy summer, everyone!

We have been busy setting up our data infrastructure and making plans to grow our data holdings. Over the next few months, the ICES and POPLAR data teams will start working to process our first batch of data, which will help support research studies and quality improvement reports. POPLAR Networks will also start to reach out to more primary care clinics and doctors in their areas to talk about sharing data with POPLAR. We are very thankful for the hard work of POPLAR staff and networks, Queen’s University, and ICES in helping us reach our goals!

We are also happy to share that POPLAR has received $30,000 from INSPIRE-PHC’s Ontario SPOR (Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research) Support Unit grant. With this funding, POPLAR will work with its Patient Advisory Committee and different research networks to create clear guidelines for including patients in all parts of research. We will also use this funding to support data analysis at ICES once the data are ready (around Fall 2026).
